Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has done a surprise interview with US television presenter Ellen DeGeneres.

In a clip aired on US chat show Ellen, Meghan, the daughter of American actor and producer Sally Field, was shown eating sushi with the funnyman.

This is the first time that Meghan, 36, has spoken in an interview.

On 13 December, she is due to give birth to her first child with Prince Harry, 33.

The duchess will be next seen in public when she arrives at the handover of a baton relay for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

On paper, the conversation is going to be a bit… boring. Does it go horribly wrong?

Tough question, Ellen. Do you ask her about why Prince Harry chatted to you and not his own sister-in-law?

The question of the royals on US TV is a natural one. The royal couple will make an appearance on American TV at the baton relay handover of Great Yarmouth Cathedral’s baton relay, which will be shown on CBS and ABC.

On 13 December, Meghan, the daughter of American actor and producer Sally Field, will arrive in Great Yarmouth for the transfer of the baton.

This will be the first time the royal family has appeared on US television since Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge did a royal visit for Harry’s 25th birthday in September.

New episodes of the Harry Potter drama, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, were shown on BBC One on Tuesday night.
