A collection of modern actresses have recently stepped into the spotlight and found fame after appearing in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue. However, first-timers like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have been busy taking on bigger personalities as they’ve moved into adulthood.
Model Emily Ratajkowski proved her popularity back in 2015 when she made waves thanks to a racy nude photo in S.I.’s Swimsuit Issue, and now she talks about surviving it.
Ratajkowski recently appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where she discussed her own journey, why she participated in the infamous 2015 issue, and how other models from earlier in her career didn’t fare so well.
“The first time I did the swimsuit issue, I was shocked,” Ratajkowski shared. “I had gotten to like 19, but I had never really felt confident with myself, and I just didn’t feel normal. So for me to feel normal and look normal, I need to be like, ‘Okay, how are my tits doing, and my ass looking and my boobs?’ That’s how I felt. And I wasn’t just famous; I was famously sexy.”
After becoming extremely popular for her 2015 photo shoot, Ratajkowski says she didn’t feel as much pressure to maintain her fame.
“There’s no one but me that can say I’m great anymore,” Ratajkowski said. “The way I was getting what I wanted, like in the past it felt like I had to do really unreasonable things.
“But when you don’t have that pressure, it’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t have to look like that in order to be sexy. I can be sexy in my own way.’”
